Third Annual Tierrasanta Community Council Community Calendar Amateur Photography Contest Calendar Year 2009

Entry Fee: $1.00 per entry --- Contest Deadline: September 15 ---Notification of winners: Oktoberfest Event --- Calendars will be available for sale approximately mid November

Contest Rules: Photos not adhering to the rules will be disqualified.

1. Entrants must be residents of Tierrasanta.

2. A photo or photo montage will be selected for each month of the year. A total of 13 photos or photo montages may be selected as winning entries. One entry judged as the overall best will be displayed on the cover of the calendar. One photo or photo montage selected from entries submitted by those older 17 years old will receive a $100 dollar prize for the best picture or montage. A $50 prize will be awarded for the best picture or montage submitted by a person 17 years old or under.

3. Photos must be taken within the Tierrasanta community boundaries OR have the community of Tierrasanta focus (e.g., parks, canyons, sunsets, etc.). Events such as the Tierrasanta golf tournament which is outside the community will be eligible as long as the title reflects the event.

4. The subject must clearly be recognized as a Tierrasanta community function or scenery and the title must reflect the community focus. (Photos such as close-ups of flowers without a community recognizable background may be submitted, but photos with community recognizable backgrounds will have the edge.) A balance of photo quality and appropriateness of the subject will be judging criteria. . Photos having a fitting monthly theme; e.g., Oktoberfest will be considered first.

5. The contest is open to amateur photographers only. (Photos entered this year will not be eligible in future years.) Photos must not be a winning photo from any other contest from this year or a previous year (e.g., MTRP photo contest).

6. All photos may be taken by either film or digital cameras and must be mounted on an 8.5” by 11” thin (1/4 inch thick max.), lightweight foam board, or photo mount cardboard. The photo or photo montage must be 8” by 10” mounted in landscape format only. Montages must be assembled and produced as a single entry but the individual photos making up a montage may be angled, straight mounted or in landscape or portrait format as long as the overall montage is in landscape format. A montage will consist of not more than 4 photos. Entries produced with digital cameras must be printed on photo quality paper and mounted. (See examples through the link at www.tierrasantacc.org)

7. Photographers may submit up to four entries. Each entry must be accompanied by a separate entry form and a $1.00 entry fee. Fees for multiple entries may be combined on one check. All entries must indicate the location in Tierrasanta where the photograph was taken. Photographers should affix their name, address and phone number, email address and photo title to the back of each entry. DO NOT AFFIX OR PRINT THE TITLE TO THE VIEW SIDE OF THE PHOTO. DO NOT ATTACH THIS APPLICATION FORM TO PHOTO. Photos must be submitted to the Tierrasanta UPS Store 10601 Tierrasanta #G, San Diego, CA 92124 by 5:00 pm on September 13, 2008.

15. If you wish to have your photo returned it may be picked up at the UPS Store between December 15 - 31.

8. The winners will be announced on October 11, 2007 at the Oktoberfest at 6:30 PM at the Tierrasanta Community Park. All entrants are encouraged to attend. Each of the winning photographers will receive a copy of the 2009 calendar. Winners will also be announced through a link to the TCC web site, www.tierrasantacc.org and in the Tierra Times by November 13, 2008.  2009 calendars with the winning photos will be available in mid November 2008.

9. Decisions made by the judges will be final. All winning entries will be displayed through a link on the Tierrasanta Community Council Web Site and at the Tierrasanta Library during the month of December The Tierrasanta Community Council, the Kiwanis of Tierrasanta, the Tierrasanta Junior Women’s Club, the UPS Store or the City of San Diego accept no responsibility for photos that become lost or damaged. All photos not reclaimed by December 31 become the property of the Tierrasanta Community Council.
